How this free PTCB practice test works
The 10 questions above are spread across the PTCE domains in roughly the same proportions as the real exam, so your result shows where you stand on each part of the official outline, not just an overall percentage.
You don't need an account. When you finish you'll see your score against our passing benchmark, your score for each domain, and every question with the right answer and a step-by-step explanation. Ten questions is a small sample, so use it to decide what to study first.
What changed on the PTCE in 2026
PTCB's new content outline took effect on January 6, 2026. The four domains are now weighted Medications 35%, Federal Requirements 18.75%, Patient Safety and Quality Assurance 23.75%, and Order Entry and Processing 22.5%.
Nonsterile compounding and alligation calculations were removed, and drug supply chain rules under the DSCSA were added. Older study guides and question banks still drill the removed topics, so check the edition before you study from them. Our questions follow the 2026 outline.

PTCB exam FAQ
How many questions are on the PTCB exam?
The PTCE has 90 multiple-choice questions: 80 scored and 10 unscored. You get 1 hour 50 minutes of exam time, and PTCB recommends planning about 2 hours in total.
What score do you need to pass the PTCB exam?
PTCB reports a scaled score from 1,000 to 1,600, and you need 1,400 to pass. It doesn't publish a percent-correct equivalent, so our results page uses 70% correct as a conservative benchmark.
How much does the PTCB exam cost?
The PTCE fee is $129. Check ptcb.org for the current fee before you book.
Is alligation still on the PTCB exam?
No. The outline in use since January 6, 2026 removed nonsterile compounding and alligation. Calculations are still tested in other areas, such as doses, days' supply and conversions.
Is this the official PTCB practice exam?
No. Quizprep is an independent study tool and isn't affiliated with PTCB. Our questions are original and written to PTCB's published content outline.
